The converter, also referred to as ultrasonic converter, is made up of piezoelectric ceramic discs which, in axial direction, possess an asymmetry in relation to the inner crystalline structure which changes the shape / electrical condition of the structure. The application of a high-frequency alternating voltage to the ceramic package effects a change in length as a function of the frequency. The result of this process is a conversion of electrical energy into mechanical vibrations. The converter has an efficiency factor of more than 90%. The elongation (i.e. amplitude) should reach a maximum if possible.
