The booster is part of the welding stack (converter, booster, sonotrode) and establishes the link between converter and sonotrode.
The booster's task is to modulate the width of the vibration (amplitude) supplied by the converter and to transfer it to the sonotrode. There are different levels of transformation.

The booster is also referred to as transformation piece. It is used to increase or reduce the amplitude provided by the converter. The booster can, therefore, be used to set the amplitude for the desired welding process.
Possessing a transformation ratio of 1:1.5, the boosters shown above will transform the input amplitude to a level that is 1.5 times greater than the output amplitude. In special cases, welding stacks are used without a booster if the materials to be welded do not require a high amplitude.
